Software Security
As our generation comes up with new ideas and invents earthshaking technologieswith unique implications for bringing people closer together, so do malware producers and spyware developers aiming at stealing your personal information. Tools like the Tor project, a web browser that redirects your signal from country to country making your IP address (location) hypothetically untraceable, can assure your autoimmunity online. A tool that can be used in conjunction with tor for security purposes is a program calledsandboxie, which creates a virtual space that allows programs to operate within its designated space and does not allow programs within to escape. Thus you get a computer virus browsing on Tor, and you already have it isolated and you can delete the sandboxeie’s contents killing the virus. Another tool used by those brave enough to learn its unfriendly user-interface is PGP, which is short for pretty good privacy. PGP is an encryption client used for emails in which the sender and receiver hold a pair of keys which are used to unlock the encrypted data. Staying on par with encryption, true crypt is an encryption client used for files on your hard drive and is great at keeping private files just that, private. Lastly, I will share a tidbit that almost everyone knows, you need an antivirus protector. What you may not know is that you can get very good security programs for free. I think the best combo out there is AVG anti-virus protection in addition with malware bytes. These two antivirus programs interact nicely with each other and cover a wide array of potential threats. Using these tools can assure that your information is much better protected and can lead to the frustration of hackers around the globe.
